ZENKYO Representative went to Nepal and visited a community center in the mountainous area built by using the support funds from ZENROREN and ZENKYO.He had exchange with the villagers.



ZENKYO’s Vice President Hejikata was in Nepal for a four-day tour from the 10th October together with ZENROREN International Director and A French CGT Representative. They visited a community center located in the eastern mountainous part of the country that was constructed with the relief fund for the big earthquake disaster. On that occasion, they met with the Chairman of GEFONT, the Nepalese national trade union center and some officers.  In addition, a meeting was held with the Chairperson of the teachers and staff union NNTA and its Secretary General. They had exchange of information about the situation of education in their respective countries and the activities of the teachers and staff union.


A big earthquake hit Nepal in 2015, and caused severe damage all over the country. ZENKYO immediately called for teachers and staff across the country to contribute money for the education and children in Nepal. Through ZENROREN, ZENKYO gathered money and sent it to GEFONT, the main friendly trade union in Nepal.  The fund was used to construct a community center in Karutari village in eastern Nepal.

ZENKYO Vice-President Hijikata Isao visited Nepal with ZENROREN officers and France CGT representative and went to see the community center completed this time, and had exchanges with the people of the village.

The center is used for meetings of villagers, mothers’ school, immunization programs for babies and infants such as the one against polio etc.

During their stay, they had several talks with the officers including GEFONT’s Chairman to ask about the reconstruction and recovery from the earthquake disaster as well as how to reform the government.  He also explained the situation of Japanese workers and the arbitrary rule of the Abe government. In addition, he had the opportunity to talk with the Chairperson and the General Secretary of the teachers’ and staff union NNTA affiliated with the GEFONT.
